Conservatives Are More Than Twice as Likely as Liberals to Be Strongly Patriotic, Says Gallup Poll

(CNSNews.com) - Conservatives are more than twice as likely as liberals to express very strong patriotism, according to a new USA Today/Gallup poll in which 48 percent of conservatives said they were “extremely patriotic,” but only 19 percent of liberals made that claim.

The poll asked respondents this question: “How patriotic are you? Would you say extremely patriotic, very patriotic, somewhat patriotic, or not especially patriotic?” The poll surveyed a random sample of 1,014 adults from June 11-13, and the margin of error was plus-or-minus 4 percentage points.

Overall, 72 percent of Americans said they were either extremely (32 percent) or very patriotic (42 percent), with another 19 percent saying they were somewhat patriotic. Only 6 percent said they were "not especially patriotic"...

Justice Elena 'rubber stamp' Kagan?

A judicial watchdog organization dedicated to ensuring a fair and impartial judiciary says Elena Kagan, if confirmed as the next Supreme Court justice, will be a "reliable rubber stamp" for President Obama's liberal agenda.

As the June 28 confirmation hearings draw closer, the Judicial Crisis Network has been poring over nearly 47,000 pages of recently released documents from the Clinton Presidential Library on Kagan's work for the Clinton White House.  read more »

House Democrats Cancel Vote on Disclose Act Opposed by Pro-Life Groups

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- House Democratic leaders canceled a planned vote for today on the DISCLOSE Act, campaign finance legislation pro-life groups oppose because it would place stringent new limits on their ability to operate. They say the limits would curtail communications on legislation and politicians' voting records.

Struggling to unite conservative and liberal Democrats, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her top lieutenants canceled the vote

The problems came in response to exceptions top Democrats included in the bill targeted towards removing the objections the NRA had to the legislation...

Gallup Poll: Americans Say Obama, Pro-Abortion Democrats Too Liberal

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- For only the second time in any previous Gallup survey, almost half of Americans say Democrats, led by President Barack Obama and his pro-abortion allies in Congress, are too liberal. Voters are less likely to say Republicans, who tend to be pro-life, are too conservative.

In the past two years, Americans have become increasingly likely to describe the Democratic Party's views as "too liberal," with 49 percent saying so now.

That compares with 46 percent who said that in 2009 and 39 percent who said that in 2008, when Obama won the presidential election.

Looked at another way, Americans said the views of the pro-abortion Democratic Party were just right by 50 percent in 2008, by 42 percent in 2009 and by just 38 percent of Americans now...

Media Gives 10 Times More Conservative Labels for Alito Than Liberal for Kagan

As the MRC’s Tim Graham documented yesterday, ABC and NBC's morning and evening newscasts have so far refused to tag Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan as a “liberal,” with CBS’s Jan Crawford offering the sole ideological label of the nominee on Monday's Evening News: “Her career has put her solidly on the left.”

In contrast, all three networks made a major deal out of the last person nominated by a Republican President for a slot on the Court, Justice Samuel Alito. Out of the first 21 stories on the ABC, CBS and NBC morning and evening news shows after Justice Alito’s selection, correspondents conveyed ten explicit “conservative” labels during the first 36 hours of coverage. In contrast, Graham documented just one “liberal” label in 14 Kagan stories during the equivalent time period after her selection...

Daily Kos Article Says Number of Abortions is "Too Low," Doesn't Want Them Rare

April 28 was apparently Abortion Uber Alles day at the liberal Web site Daily Kos. Aimee Thorne-Thomsen of the Pro-Choice Public Education Project stated that the number of women who receive abortions is “too low” in “Keep Abortions Safe and Legal? Yes. Make it Rare? Not the Point.”

A separate article blasted the new law in Oklahoma that makes it mandatory for woman to receive ultrasounds by making crude comparisons and calling it “blackmail.”

Even though 1.21 million abortions were performed in 2005, this was not enough for Thorne-Thomsen. She wrote, “On the other hand, if those 1.21 million abortions represent only the women who could access abortion financially, geographically or otherwise, then that number is too low. Yes, too low”...

Tea Party 'crashers' a media darling

A conservative media watchdog organization is skeptical that a group critical of the Tea Party movement will be able to "infiltrate" the rallies in order to discredit the movement.

The Associated Press has reported that the group -- CrashTheTeaParty.org -- has the goal of dismantling the Tea Party movement "by trying to make its members appear to be racist, homophobic, and moronic."

Jason Levin, the website's creator, says the group has 65 leaders in major cities across the country trying to recruit members to infiltrate Tea Party events that begin April 15. According to the AP report, they want to exaggerate the group's least appealing qualities, further distance the Tea Party from mainstream America, and damage the public's opinion of them....

Inhofe Ranked Most Conservative Senator, Sherrod Brown Most Liberal

(CNSNews.com) – Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) is the “most conservative” member of the Senate, and Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) is the “most liberal,” according to National Journal magazine.

In response to the report, Inhofe issued a statement on Feb. 26, saying, “I strongly believe that the conservative principles of less government, lower taxes, greater individual freedom and responsibility, and a strong national defense are the best answers for our nation.

“I will continue to stand for common sense Oklahoma values and against the liberal agenda of socialized medicine, run-away government spending, cap-and-trade, and the disarming of our national defense,” said Inhofe....

MSNBC's Maddow Regrets Misquoting Sen. Inhofe But Then Misquotes Him Again

(CNSNews.com) – MSNBC news host Rachel Maddow corrected the record for misquoting Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) on her Feb. 9 broadcast -- when she incorrectly claimed that the senator had praised federal economic stimulus spending. But she apparently has misquoted the senator again and, as Inhofe’s office told CNSNews.com, “We appreciate that Rachel is a proud liberal defending the massive government spending bills now flowing out of Washington, but hope she will consider making another correction.”

Maddow, host of “The Rachel Maddow Show,” a political news and commentary program on MSNBC, said on Feb. 9, “Senator Jim Inhofe of denying global warming fame, he trashed the stimulus, voted no, and then praised its effect in his home state by saying it would help spur additional economic growth.” (The $787 billion economic stimulus bill became law in February 2009.)

But on Feb. 10 of this year, Maddow told her audience...

National Organization for Women (NOW) says Tebow Super Bowl ad glorifies violence

America saw Focus on the Family’s Pam and Tim Tebow Super Bowl TV ad that contained a pro-life message, and the world continued to turn as NFL fans watched the New Orleans Saints win their first Super Bowl.

While the much talked about TV spot was denounced by pro-choice groups who demanded that CBS not air the ad, the harmless nature of the content, which included a short re-cap of Ms. Tebow explaining why she is happy today that she chose to give birth to son Tim, now a college football star for the Florida Gators, instead of aborting him, as she was being pushed by doctors in 1987 who said he would be a stillborn as a result of a life-threatening infection Ms. Tebow had.

Since the Tebow ad failed to up the ante of outrage pro-choice feminists were hoping for, The National Organization of Women decided to attempt to produce outrage over the playful tackle Mr.  read more »
